Research Participation Terms
Plain terms for operators who take part in our research.
These terms cover what participation involves, how information is used, and how the TrialSession.com participation thank-you works.
Who can take part
Research participation is open to operators of Australian gyms and boutique fitness studios who are authorised to share information about the business.
What participation involves
Participation typically takes around fifteen minutes. It involves answering questions about the business and providing operator-perspective answers about marketing, growth, and operating practices.
Participation is voluntary. You can stop at any point and you can ask for your response to be excluded from analysis up to the point of report publication.
Confidentiality and publication
Individual operator responses are kept confidential. Findings are only published in aggregated form. Where the number of responses in a segment is too small to protect confidentiality, the figure is not published.
Direct quotes are only used with explicit permission from the operator who provided them.
Use of information
Information provided through participation is used to produce Fitness Research Institute reports and related research outputs.
Contact details are used to confirm participation, send reports requested by the operator, and arrange the participation thank-you.
Participation thank-you
Eligible participants receive a $250 TrialSession.com Marketing Starter Pack as a thank-you for taking part. The thank-you is provided regardless of whether feedback is positive or critical and does not require ongoing use of TrialSession.com.
TrialSession.com is part of our group and supports this research. The relationship is disclosed openly on every published report and does not influence findings.
One pack per business. Not transferable. No cash value.
Honest feedback
We welcome critical and corrective feedback. Honest answers improve the value of the research for the whole sector. The participation thank-you is not contingent on any particular view.
Withdrawal and corrections
You can ask for your response to be removed or corrected at any time before publication by contacting research@fitnessresearchinstitute.org. After publication, aggregated findings cannot be unwound, but underlying records can still be corrected or removed.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated to reflect changes in research practice. The current version is always available on this page and applies to participations from the date it is posted.
